Alumni Conference of the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy

Date: Thursday, May 5, 2016 – 9:00am to Saturday, May 7, 2016 – 7:00pm

The academic year 2015 – 2016 marks several important dates for our Department. These are the 25th anniversary of the Department (and CEU), the 20th anniversary of the first 1-year MSc class, and 10th anniversary of the first MESPOM class. We are all very excited about this and would like to celebrate with you!

We are cordially inviting you to the Alumni Conference of the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy to be held in Budapest on 5-6 May 2016. You may notice that these days also coincide with the annual CEU alumni reunion event which will take place on 7 May, 2016.

While the conference program is under preparation, with this initial communication we invite alumni who would like to officially present their work during the conference to submit 300 word abstracts which cover any of the following themes:

Environmental education, environmental careers and the role of environmental professionals
Environment, energy and climate
Environment, people, and communities
Environment, development and industry
Environmental change and challenges to open societies
Biodiversity and natural resources management

A DESP committee will be struck to review the submitted abstracts and select the invited papers. Please send your abstract to this email address by no later than 31 December, 2015.

The Environmental Sciences and Policy Department will have limited funds to support travel costs of the conference speakers and will consider publishing the best papers. In addition to official paper submissions with abstracts, there will be time allotted in the conference for more informal presentations which allow alumni to present their non-academic work and professional accomplishments amongst other alumni. More detailed information about the official conference program will be provided at a later date.
On behalf of Faculty, the organizing committee and staff, we very much look forward to receiving your abstract and reconnecting with you at the conference in person!
